FAQ's Zip codes in our area are changing rapidly, how will my web site be kept current? We include 1 year of software updates with your purchase. This service is continued for a small annual fee. How do you integrate this into my website? There are many ways this can be done:
Just let us know how you want this to work and we make the system do you what you need. Do I have to pay you to keep my location info current? No! We build you a web based administration system so that you can edit your own records. If you would rather not use that system you can maintain your data off line and upload it to the servers periodically after you make changes. If you want us to maintain your records or upload your off line data for you we have to charge a small fee (a maintenance contract can be offered based on the number of changes or the frequency of updates you need to do). We can also work with you to synchronize your data automatically between your off-line and on-line data, another web server's database, etc. Just let us know what you need and we can give you a quote. How much data can I store? Our system works well with 100,000 records or more. Speed can become an issue depending on what kind of data you are storing, but we can work with you to determine the best way of handling large amounts of data. I want my local store managers / owners to be able to make updates. No problem, our interface allows for that through a system where your stores can add their own information and all you have to do is approve it (one click). What information can I display? Just about anything you want. Hours of operation, special products, a link to a web site or email address. Let us know what your needs are and we will help make it work. (Complex queries may be an additional cost). See our demo. How are distances to the location calculated? Each time a search is performed our system calculates the distance between the user's zip code and each and every location in your system, then sorts them all by distance. In order to accomplish this as fast as we do (usually less than a second) we compare each location based on the Zip code centroid of the two locations. Our system does not calculate the "driving distance" between each location like a service like Google maps does. We calculate the actual distances direct point to point, not road miles. Google can show road miles because it only has to calculate one point to the other, not 1000's at a time for each search. Also, since the Zip code centroid and the actual address may be in different locations the distance we display may be different as well. See this example to see how these calculations can vary. These distance calculations are not meant to give a drive-time estimate, but only to help determine the closest location as quickly as possible. For exact driving distance the user can click on the map link for more details - see the next question. Can we display an actual map of each location ? Yes. Our system uses this Google maps to display the actual location of each address in your data. Your address information builds the lookup, so it's accuracy is based on your data. Your results will have a link to the map/directions and they can even get door to door directions. What if I know the city but not the zip code? Our locator software can provide locations based on city, state or zip code within a certain mile radius (set by the customer). You can also search by clicking on a map. What if I have locations outside the US? You can have locations anywhere there is an address - but the zip code quick search feature will only work in the US. Others will have to enter a city, state, Province, or country. (The standard search box can have city, state, country or other criteria added if needed - we just recommend that if a majority of users can find your locations by zip code, you make it as easy to do as possible - most clients put the small zip location field on all the pages of their site). Order today and we can have your system Contact us if you have any questions.
